Age of Information in Downlink Systems: Broadcast or Unicast Transmission?

We analytically decide whether the broadcast transmission scheme or unicast achieves optimal age of information (AoI) performance a multiuser system where base station (BS) generates and transmits status updates to multiple user equipments (UEs). In scheme, update for all UEs is jointly encoded into packet transmission, while in each UE individually transmitted by following round robin policy. For both schemes, we examine three management strategies, namely non-preemption strategy, preemption buffer serving strategy. first derive new closed-form expressions average AoI achieved two schemes with strategies. Based on them, compare systems, namely, remote control dynamic system. Aided simulation results, verify our analysis investigate impact parameters AoI. example, more appropriate large number UEs. Otherwise, appropriate.
